Chapter 2: P18

Trove On The Go: A Seamless Contrast of Updated and Traditional

Stacy and Denny started working with their Trove On The Go designer almost 14 years ago with their previous home in Pickerington. Stacy had torn down some old wallpaper in the kitchen and after trying out about 10 rounds of new samples, just couldn't decide on a direction.

Her husband encouraged her to "call that designer people have been telling you about!" and soon after they became fast friends who have been working together ever since! When they moved to their new home in November of 2010, they couldn't imagine styling their home with anyone else and we were thrilled to be able to take a tour of the beautiful results!

Like most of us, Stacy and Denny wanted to create a home that felt timeless so they could love the look for years to come and not get stuck in a too-trendy rut. They describe their style as updated traditional and worked with their Trove On The Go designer to choose light and versatile pieces that bring new life to some of the deeper, more traditional finishes in their home.

One of the first pieces they chose was a set of the grey-washed Metro coffee tables from our online shop Trove Editions! We love how they chose to stagger the tables and added two of the adorable woven wool Westport stools to add functional dimension. The classic Heart club chair custom upholstered in a neutral fabric mirrors the cool, tone-on-tone look.

The Chelsey sofa is the star of their living space upholstered in a Kidproof pebble grey fabric. A rich chocolate leg finish pulls in the deep wood tones from the mantle and adjacent sideboards.

They created a casual, yet sophisticated dining area off of the kitchen with industrial detailing that adds an edgy touch. The hammered copper top dining table surrounded by six of the stunning Emile side chairs creates a seamless mashup of modern and traditional. The streamlined, bent iron frame of the Emile chairs folds underneath a smoky stonewashed seat to bring in just the right amount of cozy detailing. Fiery burnt orange accents the space that's finished with this amazing area rug, bringing in the cool tones to pull it all together.

They finished the space with the Peter candelabra chandelier and we have to say we are in LOVE with their choice! This jaw-dropping piece has such a playful presence with its round charcoal oak beads connected by a cascade of iron arches. Their entire home feels so thoughtful and effortlessly blends classic, understated design with bold contrast pieces- a design task that's difficult, but they pulled it off so well!

The Alexandra stools bring in comfort and warmth to give guests a cozy spot to sit and enjoy a drink while Stacy and Denny host. They painted the counter island Sherwin Williams Black Magic to contrast the classic white cabinetry and create depth.

Their dining room is another great example of why we love pairing old with new. They have had this gorgeous traditional dining table in their family for years and decided to give it an update with the Vista slipcovered dining chairs in a heather twill carbon fabric. Their gently curved frames bring ease and softness to the formality of the table.

The Britta hand-woven jute rug was a perfect choice in this space because it marries the charcoal and cream tones used throughout the home and creates cohesiveness. They finished their design with the Adeline chandelier which is one of our absolute favorite lighting finds! Antique iron creates an industrial frame that holds rows of cascading, iridescent glass for just a touch of old Hollywood glam.

The Eric walnut deconstructed host chair greets you when you walk in and every time you leave Stacy and Denny's home. We loved getting to know this lovely couple and are so glad that they chose to work with Trove to make their new house a home!

Give Trove On The Go a try if you're feeling a little stuck with your interior spaces. We love partnering with you to design a home you love and hope to feature your home in one of our next journal entries!

Happy designing!
