Chapter 2: P16

The New Modern Traditional Living

When we heard that Kelly Scott Interiors was designing the Memmer Homes Parade of Homes feature this year, of course we jumped at the chance to collaborate! Kelly's style is timeless with a fresh, modern touch and we couldn't wait to join in her creative process to furnish a whole home full of Trove finds.

We have so much to show you from each area in the home starting with the amazing main level living spaces featured in this journal entry. Whether you're dreaming about a new house from the foundation up or looking for some quick design ideas to finish off your living or dining room, follow along with us to get inspired!

The open living space in the home features Kelly's all-time-favorite color combination of cream, grey and camel with touches of black, green and indigo. We chose the Ellice bench seat sofa in a Crypton cream fabric that's kidproof so it will keep its light and airy feel even after lots of love and use. The custom Collins ottoman ties in the weathered finishes throughout the home with a solid wood base offset by a lightly striped fabric for a tailored touch. Doesn't the Egen hand-loomed wool rug finish the space beautifully?

The Tatum sofa creates a comfortable conversation space that layers complementary neutrals for an effortless feel. These easygoing tones are present throughout the entire home, contrasted by striking iron and leather elements to bring in punchy visual texture. The Rendor thin iron console is topped with the most beautiful hand-hammered antique copper top that brings in lightness and simultaneous warmth.

The Ryder accent chairs have to be one of our favorite finds in the entire home. Warm, whiskey-toned saddle leather side panels buckle over a structural iron frame to allow the bright white upholstery to shine in contrast. Two subtle Neutral Swirl art prints pop with tone-on-tone texture above the setting that's finished with the perfectly sized Kiera side table from our online shop, Trove Editions!

A cool toned, stained shiplap fireplace finishes the space and makes a statement without distracting from all of the other beautiful textiles and tones.

Kelly's favorite kitchen color combination of white and natural wood tone was pulled together beautifully by Memmer Homes' custom cabinetry and lightly washed hardwood floors. The Napa counter stools slip-covered in a light, cotton linen fabric bring softness and comfort to the beautifully crafted kitchen island painted in Sherwin Williams Iron Ore.

Brass light fixtures throughout the space really sing, especially the impactful Soren globe pendants above the island. As Kelly says, "if you haven't gotten the memo - brass is back!" and we couldn't agree more. She says that lighting and hardware are a perfect place to try out the trend and in her opinion it's definitely not a design risk. "It's not like the polished 80's brass. We're talking real, unpolished, beautifully imperfect brass" that really lights up a space.

In her opinion, if you're deciding where to splurge and where to save, lighting in your main living spaces is never a place to skimp. Kelly says to "go for it and get exactly what you want. You won't regret it!"

One of our favorite thoughtful details in the home is this convenient butler's pantry off of the kitchen. It pulls in the same Iron Ore and Gossamer Veil colors in the adjacent spaces and finishes it off with the Garrin rope wrapped pendant for a fun element to draw your eye upwards.

The Briggs side chairs were a must-have piece for the dining room. Not only are they family friendly, but they revisit the same combination of white and natural found in the kitchen to bring a cohesiveness to the entire space. We chose the Cavan 94" dining table to add just the right amount of rustic warmth and softened it with two of the Fallin slip covered captain's chairs.

The Emory black drifted oak cabinet and Lance antique burnished brass chandelier add finishing elements to the space. Fresh flowers were all we needed to make the dining room feel like home!

We'd love to hear which element of the Parade home you loved the most this year. Tell us all of your thoughts in the comments below and keep an eye out here on the Trove journal for a tour of more beautiful spaces in this home coming very soon!
