CHAPTER 3: P21

2019 Parade of Homes Walkthrough

Being a part of the BIA Parade of Homes is always an honor, but designing an entire house with Trove pieces this year was a huge accomplishment. We were so excited when ALTA Design Build approached us to design and furnish the interior of the beautiful home they were building! Now that the Parade is over, we want to take you on a virtual tour of our California Casual home and reflect on all the amazing finds throughout.

As you step through the front door into a spacious entryway, you notice the open concept floor plan. We knew we wanted a narrow piece that wouldn't take away from the grand entrance, so we chose the Palmer console. Immediately to your right, you will find a front room that could be used as an extra bedroom, but we decided to create a space for relaxing and entertaining guests. Incorporating unique textures and a nostalgic Led Zeppelin print brought this sitting area to life.

First-floor master bedrooms seemed to be the theme at this year's Parade. We wanted you to feel right at home when you walked into this secluded space, so we chose soothing shades of blue and rich jewel tones to create a quiet oasis. The delicate details on the Jefferson king bed pair beautifully with a fun Hygge & West wallpaper adding some eclectic touches to the room. In a cozy sitting area just off the master bath, we chose the Pate chairs in deep emerald green to add a pop of color to the space.

At the end of the grand entryway, you step into this breathtaking, open kitchen. Every thoughtful detail, from the waterfall countertop on the island to the gleaming gold finishes on the appliances, has us wanting to spend every minute in here. The rich leather on the Baker counter stools contrasts the white textured backsplash ALTA selected.

Maybe our favorite room in the house, this living space will be the resting area of your entire family. The Sylvie bench seat sofa will become the setting for weekend snuggles and family movie nights. The dueling Ashford leather chairs are equally comfortable and stylish to complement the leather counter stools in the kitchen. The large Piedmont mirror opens up the room, adding dimension and depth.

This vibrant, intricately detailed rug was actually our initial inspiration when we began the design process! We strived to push design limits and create an elevated look that's not often seen. The modern lines on the Cross dining table paired with the natural cane Eaton dining chairs pulls in subtle SoCal vibes. We chose to let the rug steal the show and paired it with the neutral texture on the Rain I and II prints.

Typically loft spaces are used as a walkthrough or catch-all space, but we didn't want that to be the case here. Our goal was to design a space conducive to Netflix binging, game nights, and coloring contests. The Ian kitchen island was a no-brainer with its stunning marble top and unique pullout which adds entertaining space. Adding two Dena ottomans in a fun red fabric creates a place for kids to get creative. This room was definitely right on track to meet all of our California Casual dreams!

In the boy's bedroom, we incorporated rich leathers and dark colors to contrast the lighter elements in the room. The stylish Amelia bed has two cushioned panels attached with leather straps and supported by an iron frame. A larger-than-life Buffalo print is positioned above the light-washed Harlan dresser. This statement piece matches the rugged natural textures in the room.

Walking through the jack-and-jill bathroom into the neighboring room, you witness every girl's dream come true. With a matching pair of Kingsley twin beds and an emerald mermaid chair, this space is the perfect spot for sleepovers! Tucked into the corner, you will find the marble-top Keaton desks with accent mirrors to reflect the natural light.

The lower level space could steal you away for days! We brought in lots of colors and eclectic accents to create a lounge space you'll never want to leave. Make yourself at home on the cozy sectional or the Cannon swivel chairs in a burnt red fabric. These chairs make the perfect entertaining addition, pulling in stylish extra seating. The rug pulls it all together and adds warmth and color.

We conclude the tour with one of our favorite features of the home, the outdoor spaces. This neighborhood was built with an emphasis on community, so we needed to create the ideal area to spend quality time surrounded by family and neighbors. The expansive front porch catches your eye as you walk by. Right around back, there's a large patio just off the living room. The Barloy outdoor sofas and Prose coffee table provide the perfect marshmallow roasting spot!

The 2019 Parade of Homes was one to remember! ALTA created a beautiful blank canvas for us to fill with Trove finds, and we were so pleased with how our California Casual design inspirations came to life. We look forward to our next design project whatever that may be. Next time you're working to create your dream space, we would love to see your inspiration and how we can help you make it a reality. Parade finds and inspirations are available to be shopped at both locations!
